Abstracts:

There has been a very good response to our call for abstracts for papers under the workshop themes. Unfortunately there will not be sufficient time for all the proposed papers to be presented during the workshop and the technical committee is in the process of selection those that best fit with the workshop outline. We are now no longer accepting further abstracts. If you have submitted an abstract that we would like you present as a full paper at the workshop you will hear from us before the end of July 2009. We may request other papers to be presented as posters. Authors and paper titles will also be posted on this site once selection has taken place.

Response to questions about Swine Flu in Nepal:

A (H1N1) - Swine Flu has been confirmed in Nepal. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has raised its Pandemic Threat Alert Phase to Level 6. The WHO website at http://www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/en/index.html has further details. You should monitor media reports for any developments and advice.

The Government of Nepal has advised that it is introducing surveillance measures at the international airport. On arrival in Nepal travellers from affected countries should be prepared to be asked questions about their health or be checked for symptoms by medical staff. Travellers displaying symptoms of swine flu would be taken to Teku Hospital for a Rapid Diagnostic Test. If Swine Flu were identified travellers would be admitted to an isolation ward for up to 7 days and given the appropriate anti viral treatment.

The situation in Nepal at the moment is not such that you need to consider changing your plans to attend next month’s CF International Workshop. This notice has been prepared to reassure you that the problem of Swine Flu is being dealt with here in Nepal in the same way as in many other countries. We look forward to seeing you at the workshop as planned.
